I want to use an area of OpenSeaMap in the USA to which I have added buoys and other detail to use w/ SeaClear II.

Is there no way to simply download a user defined area of the map?  (Such as is available in OpenStreetMap using the Export menu option.)  If not, why not?  It would seem that the programming has already been done for OSM.

I could perhaps download most of the mapdata via OSM, but then the buoys would be missing.

I suppose I could stitch together screen captures... but is there not a better way?  Am I missing something obvious?

Maybe JOSM can do it?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Downloads

Your request falls in line with my suggestion for an interface for defining new downloadable maps, see my thread here. What I am looking for is somewhere where we can suggest max/min lat/long, scale and INT chart number.

Re: Downloads

Hello All,

As a hydrographic surveyor I'm very happy with the devellopments on OpenSeaMaps. Keep up the good work!!!
Please note that there are many free S-57 charts that can be downloaded. Many of these charts do not contain detailed depth information, but can be used as very useful background information.
On the following link you will find many S-57 charts for the inland waters of The Netherlands (and other EU countries):

The charts for Zeeland contain more detph details then the other charts and are updated on a regular bases.

For future purposes I would suggest/request to offer the charts in a S-57 format so that many other packages (Hypack, QINSy, Fledermaus, PDS2000, CARIS) can support and convert the charts to vectorized charts.
Supporting the S-57 helps mariners to work with proper standardized charts.
Would is be possible to show some of the links to the official websites?

Re: Downloads

The new renderer under development will have the capability to output S-57 format charts, though this feature will not be available in early versions. This part of the functionality will also enable input from S-57 sources, so that public domain sources, such the Dutch, German and US data can be imported.

Re: Downloads

I've downloaded a couple of the European maps for my Garmin GPS and in the MapSource download file there is plenty of land-side detail but no marine detail.  What am I missing or doing wrong?  Doing 2 weeks along western Italy and detail would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Downloads

marine detail

If you edit nautical things, they appear in a few minutes in the online chart.
Offline charts will bee updated monthly or weekly.

Doing 2 weeks along western Italy

Can you help collecting waterdepths?
and upload them to

Thanks, Markus
