UK Hydrological Office / Irish depth survey data

It would appear from the  UKHO  website that all of this high quality information may be used in generating depth maps in Openseamap. It is issued under an open government license and only requires an attribution statement.

see … ive-centre and check their license terms.

I am able to supplement data in the east Kent area

A similar situation appears to exist for vast swathes of data around Ireland/NW Europe via … SurveyData

As it can be also be supplied by NOAA I think once again it is public domain but finding exact license terms are a little more complicated but certainly worth checking out. Once again, I can fill in some of the gaps off the West cork coast

edit : found license terms. see I have a pdf of the terms but can see no option to attach it to this post.

I personally have downloaded data from both sources and processed them into DEM and colour shaded tiff files and in general, they produce much higher quality maps than user track generated maps. Having processed several hundred million lat/long/depth triplets from private boats, I can say with confidence that the lack of true tide, Swell and sag correction + the odd false soundings included when bottom lock is lost or fish shoals produce a false bottom impacts adversely on private user tracks.

Just thought I'd point you at this data if you were not aware of it.  Bertie

Re: UK Hydrological Office / Irish depth survey data

Have you managed to download any of the UKHO data? I tried but could not make sense of the "Geospatial Viwer" tool.
