Properly tag adjacent fairways

To define a navigable part of water the tag seamark:type=fairway is available.
In the wiki: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Sea … k_Objects/ this is described as valid for (simple) areas only. (so not for multipolygon areas)

However when an adjacent fairway exists then at least one way is common. Here the (JOSM) validator complains “Overlapping ways”.

So what to do?

The same / or similar with other adjacent areas: Anchorage area | Anchor berth | Berth | Marine farm/culture | Military practice area | and so on, see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Sea … rk_Objects

Re: Properly tag adjacent fairways

I created two polygons that share a segment. I tried various tags on each polygon, both seamark tags as well as some land map tags.

Some combinations gave the "overlapping ways" error & some did not.

I have no idea why this happens!
