Re: Signboards

There is no such tag as "Seamark:notice:category:speed_limit". What you need is "seamark:notice:information=5mph", to comply with the iENC encoding guide. Currently, I do not render that text. This is work in my queue, but it is fairly low down the list!

Re: Signboards

Thank you Malcomb.

As re my other item.  Is there a way to show a shoal area that is not a rock?

Say, an area 200 ft x 200 ft with water depth about 4 feet.

Thanks for all your work on OpenSeaMap and for your help.

Best Regards,

Jim

Re: Signboards

Sorry - missed that!

The tagging is:
seamark:type=sea_area
seamark:sea_area:category=shoal

Re: Signboards

So far as I can tell,
seamark:type=sea_area
seamark:sea_area:category=shoal
does not render on the map?

Re: Signboards

While we're at it, foul ground single point, # symbol in INT-1, how to tag. What I have found until now is:

seamark:type=restriction_area
seamark:restriction_area:category=foul

But according to tag this is an area

seamark:type=obstruction
seamark:obstruction:category=foul

Would be more appropriate

If it wasn't for terrible internet connection, I would've uploaded it to see if it renders, but as I currently only have net on my iPad it'll have to wait

Re: Signboards

You are correct, the type is "obstruction". There are many tagging errors in the database, so using that as a guide is not safe!

As to the category, there are two for foul. They are:

seamark:obstruction:category=foul_area
or
seamark:obstruction:category=foul_ground

The first is for an area where navigation is hazardous, whereas the second is an area where navigation is safe, but where seabed obstructions make anchoring or going aground hazardous.
