Map updates

The usual question does not seem to have an answer on this forum: how often are the map layers updated ?
Tiles and database.

Re: Map updates

The OSM database, containing all the base layer and seamark layer data, is updated each minute. The seamark layer tiles are updated as soon as these changes are made, and new tiles can start to appear within 10 minutes of an edit if the tiling queue is empty.

Re: Map updates

Hi,

unfortunately at the moment we are moving the sports layer renderer to a new server.

So just now the sports layer is not updated regularly.

When we have moved it, I can give you a new timing estimate based on the new servers calculating speed.

Re: Map updates

Maintainer of opensnowmap.org, I can offer mapnik tiles for whitewater features, and share the style on github if other water sport features are to be renders.
Those tiles won't benefit from any particular website, but dedicated to openseamap sport layer.
Let's say within a month.

Re: Map updates

I can confirm the server can generate weekly updated tiles.
If there is an interest, of course...

Re: Map updates

Hi.  There is something wrong with openseamap base map tiles.

I have undertaken a large survey of a tidal estuary in Scotland and have been consistently adding a LOT of detail to openstreetmap and openseamap.  When I view the estuary in openstreetmap, the base layer tiles update quickly as I would expect.  When I view the estuary through openseamap, the navigation features I have added appear however the basemap has not changed in well over a week!

Is there something wrong with the server that is used to generate the base map?

Re: Map updates

What's the current status of the OpenSeaMap renderer? It seems that the attributes rendered in Openstreetmap base layer appear to OpenSeaMap reasonably fast (slipways here http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/58.38458/26.13456) but updates to navigational aids are not rendered for many hours (here http://map.openseamap.org/?zoom=16&lat= … 0FFFFFFFF)?

Re: Map updates

The renderer was out out of action for 3 days while I built a new planet DB. It has now been re-started, but has to catch up on the backlog. It has currently reached Sunday afternoon.

Re: Map updates

last_navigator,

Could you tell me the location or a changeset number of the area you edited? The renderer was running until last Friday morning & should therefore have processed any seamarks that you added before then. In normal circumstances, you should expect to see your edits on the map within 1 hour.
