Hi, I am making progress understanding JOSM. Am impressed by many aspects of this tool but there are there are three things I have not yet found:
The first is how I can view locally recorded or uploaded tracks in the JOSM editor. Is that possible?
The second is how I can temporarily suppress the rendering of or hide other objects so that I can better study the underlying imagery. For example to look for shadows and other signs of buoys on the water in areas where others have already drawn in boundaries and other features.
Also, can anyone recommend an easy way to convert / compare lat longs from ddd mmm ss to ddd mmm.mm or ddd.dddd etc whilst working in JOSM. Reason being that different sources all use different formats and it whilst I understand the need for OSM to only use one format internally, for editing purposes it is useful to use others.
Apologies if these questions have arisen before but I have looked around before posting.

Before I can answer this, I need to know what plugins, presets & imagery that you have installed?

In short - all that looked relevant to seamap but perhaps I have overlooked something.

OK, you might want to try the "SeaChart" imagery layer. This will render a sea map on the fly as you edit. One caveat - it uses my new renderer, which is still a work-in-progress.
Your questions:
1. JOSM will input GPX files onto a separate layer, so that you can trace or merge that data to the map layer.
2. Click the 'eye' symbols on the layer panel to hide/reveal individual layers.
3. JOSM will accept all the commonly used lat/lon representations.
